Beckton is the eastern terminus of the DLR Beckton branch, serving the residential Beckton area in Newham. The station has a car park and is the end of the line for services from Bank and Tower Gateway. The area is named after the vast Victorian Beckton Gas Works that once covered this part of east London.
Beckton opened in 1994 as the terminus of the DLR's eastern extension. It sits in Zone 3 with free car parking -useful for commuters from the surrounding area. From Beckton the DLR runs back west through the Royal Docks to Canning Town and on to Canary Wharf and central London.
