About Colliers Wood

Colliers Wood is a Northern line station in Zone 3 between Tooting Broadway and South Wimbledon. The station's main attraction is Merton Abbey Mills — a weekend craft and food market occupying a group of Victorian watermill buildings beside the River Wandle. The site was once a textile printing works and the industrial heritage is still visible in the architecture. The market runs on weekends with craft stalls, independent food traders, a pub in the restored mill building and a pleasant riverside setting that is one of south-west London's more characterful weekend destinations.

The River Wandle itself — a chalk stream restored over the past two decades — runs through the mill site. The Wandle Trail follows the river from its source in Carshalton northward through Colliers Wood toward Wandsworth and the Thames, providing a traffic-free walking and cycling route through an otherwise dense suburban landscape.
