Deptford Bridge is a DLR Zone 2 station in south-east London, opened in 1999 as part of the extension to Lewisham. The station serves the Deptford area -a neighbourhood with a rich maritime and creative history, home to Goldsmiths University students and a growing arts scene. The area is undergoing significant regeneration.
Deptford Bridge sits between Greenwich (south) and Elverson Road (north) on the Lewisham branch of the DLR. The station is elevated and sits on a viaduct above Deptford High Street. Lewisham is 2 stops south, Cutty Sark and Maritime Greenwich are 2 stops north.
Deptford has a long history as a major Royal Navy dockyard -the Deptford Dockyard was one of the first established by Henry VIII in 1513. Today the area is known for its street market (Deptford Market on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays), its creative community and Goldsmiths University nearby. The high street has a diverse range of shops and restaurants.
