North Greenwich is a Jubilee line station positioned at one of London's most dramatic transformation points - the Greenwich Peninsula, a former industrial site that now hosts the O2 Arena, a growing residential neighbourhood, and one of the most distinctive modern station buildings on the Underground network. The station itself, designed by Will Alsop and opened in 1999 as part of the Jubilee Line Extension, is extraordinary: a vast circular hall with a yellow canopy roof visible from distance, cavernous platforms deep underground and an architectural ambition that matches the scale of the O2 dome it serves.
The O2 Arena is the defining feature of this end of the Peninsula. One of the world's busiest entertainment venues, it seats 20,000 for major concerts and hosts international sports events, boxing, indoor athletics and large-scale exhibitions. The venue operates essentially year-round - on any given weekend there is likely to be something on, ranging from global superstar residencies to comedy and family events. Checking the O2 programme before planning a visit to this part of east London is worthwhile.
Up at The O2, a climbing experience that takes visitors along the outside of the dome's iconic white tent structure, provides panoramic views across east London, the Thames, Canary Wharf and the QE2 Bridge on clear days. Booking is required and the experience runs weather-permitting. The Emirates Air Line cable car crosses the Thames from North Greenwich to the Royal Docks, offering aerial views of the river in about 10 minutes - a fun Thames crossing included with Oyster or contactless payment as part of your TfL fare.
North Greenwich station opened in 1999 as part of the Jubilee Line Extension. It sits in Zone 2 and serves the Jubilee line only. The station is fully step-free throughout. The station building is designed by Will Alsop and is notable for its circular yellow-canopied surface structure and cavernous underground platforms.
The Jubilee line (silver) connects west toward Canary Wharf (6 minutes), London Bridge (12 minutes), Southwark, Waterloo and Westminster. Eastbound trains run toward Canning Town, West Ham and Stratford. The Jubilee line runs at high frequency - every 2-3 minutes at peak times.
North Greenwich has toilets, ATMs, Wi-Fi, shops, cafes and an information point within the station. The O2 complex has extensive food and retail options inside the venue.
North Greenwich is fully step-free throughout, with lifts connecting the street-level canopy structure to the deep-level platforms. This makes it one of the most accessible stations on the Jubilee line.

The Jubilee line runs from approximately 05:00 to midnight. North Greenwich is quiet outside event times and very busy during and after major O2 events. For Up at The O2, mornings on clear days give the best visibility. The Emirates Air Line is available during daylight hours and runs frequently. Arrive early for major events to avoid the post-show station crush.
