Regent's Park station is one of central London's quieter Zone 1 stops — a Bakerloo line station that sits between Baker Street and Oxford Circus but handles a fraction of their passenger volumes because it serves a park rather than a commercial district. The park itself is the reason to be here. Regent's Park covers 197 hectares, is one of London's eight Royal Parks, and contains a remarkable variety of things within its boundaries: the formal Inner Circle gardens with Queen Mary's Rose Garden, a boating lake, a large open-air sports area, the Open Air Theatre, London Zoo and the long Broad Walk running the length of the park.
Queen Mary's Rose Garden, inside the Inner Circle, is one of the finest formal rose gardens in Britain — planted with over 12,000 roses of more than 85 varieties, it peaks in June and remains impressive through July and August. Entry to the park and the rose garden is free. The Open Air Theatre, also within the Inner Circle, runs a summer season of Shakespeare plays, musicals and children's productions from May to September. Tickets sell out quickly for popular productions — book months in advance for guaranteed seats.
London Zoo, at the northern edge of the park, is the world's oldest scientific zoo. The station is a 15-minute walk through the park from the zoo entrance, but most visitors take the bus rather than walk through the park.
Regent's Park station opened in 1906 and serves Zone 1 on the Bakerloo line only. The station is not step-free.
The Bakerloo line (brown) connects south toward Oxford Circus (2 minutes) and northward toward Baker Street (2 minutes), continuing to Paddington, Warwick Avenue and beyond toward Harrow and Wealdstone. Journey to Oxford Circus is approximately 2 minutes.
Regent's Park station has an information point. The park has cafes at the boating lake and within the Open Air Theatre complex.
Regent's Park is not step-free. Oxford Circus (one stop south) has step-free access on the Victoria and Central lines but not the Bakerloo. Baker Street (one stop north) has step-free access.

Open Air Theatre — Inside the Inner Circle. Summer season of Shakespeare, musicals and children's shows. Book in advance.

The station is quiet by Zone 1 standards. Rush hours 08:00-09:30 and 17:30-19:30 see commuter flows. The park is best in the morning before 11:00 on weekdays — the rose garden especially benefits from early morning light and low visitor numbers. Summer weekends draw large park crowds from midday.
