Sloane Square is a District and Circle line station at the junction of Chelsea and Belgravia in Zone 1. The square outside is one of central London's most distinctive - a formal garden surrounded by boutiques, the Peter Jones department store (a curved 1930s building that is a landmark in its own right), and the Royal Court Theatre. King's Road, which runs west from the square through Chelsea, is one of London's most storied streets - the epicentre of London fashion in the 1960s and 1970s and still a strong retail destination for fashion, homeware and independent shops today.
The Royal Court Theatre, directly on the square, is one of the world's leading venues for new playwriting. It has premiered plays by John Osborne, Harold Pinter, Caryl Churchill, Mark Ravenhill and many others, and its continued focus on new writing and diverse voices gives it a consistently interesting programme. Ticket prices are reasonable compared to many West End venues.
Chelsea Physic Garden - one of the oldest botanical gardens in England, established in 1673 - is about 15 minutes walk south-west along the embankment. The Saatchi Gallery on King's Road shows contemporary art with free admission.
Sloane Square opened in 1868 and serves Zone 1 on the District and Circle lines. The station is not step-free.

Sloane Square has toilets, shops and an information point. The square and King's Road immediately outside have extensive retail and cafe options.
