About Turnham Green

Turnham Green is a District and Piccadilly line station at the centre of Chiswick, one of west London's most consistently desirable residential neighbourhoods. The station opens onto Turnham Green itself - a pleasant open space flanked by the High Road on one side - and the surrounding streets form the commercial heart of a neighbourhood that has balanced strong local character with high demand from west London professional families for decades.

Turnham Green Terrace, running south from the station, and Chiswick High Road are particularly strong for independent restaurants, cafes and wine bars that serve the local population rather than tourist traffic. The range and quality is genuinely good. Bedford Park, immediately west of the station, is a conservation area built in the 1870s and 1880s as the world's first planned garden suburb - the Arts and Crafts architecture by Norman Shaw and others is well-preserved and beautiful to walk through. Gunnersbury Park is accessible to the west.
