Willesden Green is a Jubilee line station in north-west London with a history stretching back to 1879 - one of the older stations on the line. The surrounding neighbourhood has a diverse, long-established community with strong Irish roots alongside South Asian and Black British communities who have lived here for decades. The high street along Willesden Lane and the surrounding streets has the unpretentious, working character of a neighbourhood that functions for its own residents rather than for visitors.
The station itself is at street level - an unusual feature among Jubilee line stations that gives it a different character to the deep-level stations in central London. The area has good local cafes, pubs and restaurants within a short walk, and Brent Cross Shopping Centre is accessible by bus for larger retail needs.
Willesden Green station opened in 1879 as part of the Metropolitan Railway. It serves Zone 3 on the Jubilee line only and is not step-free. The station is at ground level, with direct pedestrian access from the street.
