86th Street on Lexington Avenue is the primary subway gateway for the Metropolitan Museum of Art - the largest art museum in the Western Hemisphere with a collection of 1.5 million objects spanning 5,000 years. The station serves the upper east side of Central Park and is walking distance from the Guggenheim Museum (Frank Lloyd Wright's spiral building), the Jewish Museum and the Neue Galerie. The surrounding Carnegie Hill neighbourhood is one of Manhattan's most elegant.
