About Bastille

Bastille station marks the site of the notorious 18th-century prison stormed on 14 July 1789 - the birth of the French Revolution. Today Place de la Bastille is dominated by the Colonne de Juillet and Opéra Bastille, and is bordered by the Marais district to the north and the vibrant rue de Lappe bar street to the south. The Port de l'Arsenal marina is directly adjacent.

  • 3Rue de Lappe and the surrounding streets are the heart of Paris nightlife
  • 4The Promenade Plantée elevated garden starts a 5-minute walk east from here
