Woolwich Elizabeth line station opened in May 2022 as part of the central section launch, giving south-east London its first direct rail link into the heart of the Elizabeth line network. The station sits beside the historic Woolwich Arsenal development and connects to Woolwich Arsenal DLR station, creating a powerful transport interchange in an area that was previously underserved.
Woolwich Elizabeth line station is in Zone 4 and provides fast services into central London -Canary Wharf in 8 minutes, Liverpool Street in 15 minutes and Paddington in 30 minutes. The station has full step-free access throughout and is one of the newer Elizabeth line stations designed to handle heavy passenger flows.
The Royal Arsenal Riverside development surrounds the station -a regeneration of the historic armaments factory that made Woolwich famous as a military-industrial hub from the Tudor era. The site now houses residential developments, restaurants, a cinema, the Firepower Museum and the excellent Dial Arch pub in a converted Georgian guardhouse. It is one of east London's most interesting heritage regeneration projects.
