PNU 1 Metro Station is the first of two Yellow Line stations serving Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University (PNU) - the world's largest women's university by student enrollment, with over 60,000 students. The PNU campus is a city within a city, spanning more than 8 square kilometres northeast of the city centre. The metro connection here is enormously significant: it gives tens of thousands of students and staff a direct, affordable, and dignified transit link to the rest of Riyadh.

Station Overview

Elevated Zone 2 Yellow Line station. First of two PNU stations on the Yellow Line, between SABIC to the northwest and PNU 2 to the northeast (airport direction). Opened 2024.

Lines and Connectivity

Yellow Line only. Southbound toward SABIC and KAFD (Blue and Purple interchange). Northbound toward PNU 2, the airport terminals, and onward to Ar Rabi.

Full step-free access throughout. As a station serving one of the world's largest universities with a predominantly female population, the station is designed to be fully accessible and comfortable, with Family cabin boarding zones clearly marked on the platform.

• PNU campus has internal transport - confirm which gate serves your destination on the campus before exiting the station.
• Student peak hours align with lecture times - busiest 8:00–9:30 AM and 12:00–13:30 on weekdays during term.
• Zone 2 station - SAR 6 single adult fare to Zone 1 city centre.
• Family cabins are especially important on this corridor - board in the designated carriage.

Timings and Best Time to Travel

Sunday to Thursday 06:00 to midnight, Friday 13:00 to 02:00, Saturday 06:00 to 02:00. Significantly busier during university term time. Quieter during holidays and exam periods.
