Brent Cross station is best known for its proximity to Brent Cross Shopping Centre - one of the UK's first purpose-built out-of-town shopping malls, opened in 1976. The shopping centre is not directly at the station; a ten-minute bus ride or twenty-minute walk separates them. However, Brent Cross station also sits at the heart of one of the largest regeneration projects in Europe: the Brent Cross Cricklewood scheme plans to deliver over 7,500 new homes, a new town centre and major new parks over the coming decades, substantially transforming this part of north-west London. A new Brent Cross West station on the Thameslink rail line opened in 2023 as the first major new London station in years.
Brent Cross station opened in 1923. It sits in Zone 3 and is served by the Northern line. The station does not have step-free access. It is between Hendon Central to the north and Golders Green to the south.
The Northern line (black, Edgware branch) connects north through Hendon Central and Colindale to Edgware, and south through Golders Green into central London. Journey time to Leicester Square is approximately fifteen minutes.

Northern line services at Brent Cross run from approximately 05:30 to midnight Monday to Saturday and 07:00 to 23:30 on Sundays. Night Tube operates on the Northern line on Friday and Saturday nights. The shopping centre is busy on Saturdays and during school holidays.
