East Finchley station has one of the most distinctive appearances of any station on the Northern line, thanks to the bronze archer created by sculptor Eric Aumonier that stands on the station's roof, his arrow aimed symbolically down the line towards central London. The station building itself is an excellent example of Charles Holden's modernist Underground architecture from the 1930s - clean lines and restrained decoration that has aged well. The station serves a leafy part of north London where Cherry Tree Wood and the surrounding residential streets give the neighbourhood an unhurried quality.
East Finchley station opened in 1940. It sits in Zone 3 and is served by the Northern line on the High Barnet branch. The station does not have step-free access. It is between West Finchley to the north and Highgate to the south.
