Oberkampf is the Métro station for one of Paris's most authentic and consistently excellent bar neighbourhoods. Rue Oberkampf and Rue Jean-Pierre Timbaud run north-east from the station into a district of independent bars, organic cafes, craft beer venues and vintage shops that has been a centre of east Paris creative life since the 1990s. Unlike some neighbourhoods that have been gentrified smooth, Oberkampf has retained a genuine diversity and neighbourhood character alongside the creative energy.
