About Tokyo

Tokyo Station is the main terminus and one of the architectural highlights of the capital - the Marunouchi red-brick facade (restored in 2012) is one of Japan's most photographed buildings. The station serves as the departure point for all Shinkansen bullet train routes to Osaka, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Sapporo and the rest of Japan, making it the essential transit hub for travel across the country.

  • 3The station has an underground shopping complex (Tokyo Station City) with 150 shops and restaurants
  • 4The Imperial Palace East Gardens are a 10-minute walk and free to visit
  • 5Look for the ramen street in the basement - excellent cheap options
