There is a reason golf fans perk up when they hear this station name. Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station serves one of Dubai's best known golf communities, the manicured home of the Earth and Fire championship courses that host the season-ending DP World Tour Championship. Away from tournament week it is a green, gated residential district of villas wrapped around fairways, and the station gives it a direct link to the rest of the city on the Route 2020 branch of the Red Line.

Most days this is a calm stop. Residents drift through on their commute and the platforms rarely feel crowded. Come November, though, the mood shifts as spectators arrive for the tour finale, and the station earns its keep moving a spike of visitors towards the course. For everyday travellers it is a quiet, comfortable gateway to a corner of Dubai that trades skyscrapers for landscaped greens.

Station Overview

Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station opened in 2021 on the Route 2020 branch of the Dubai Metro Red Line. It sits in Zone 3 of the NOL fare system. Trains here are fully automated and driverless, and the station itself is elevated on a viaduct above the surrounding roads.

Lines and Connectivity

Jumeirah Golf Estates is a Red Line station on the Route 2020 spur. South-west the branch ends at Expo City Dubai one stop away, while north-east it runs back through Al Furjan and rejoins the main Red Line towards the Marina, Downtown and the airport. It is not an interchange, so any Green Line journey means changing lines at Union or BurJuman.

Station Layout and Structure

This is a spacious elevated station, generously sized for the tournament crowds it occasionally handles, with lifts, escalators and stairs from the concourse up to the platforms. Facilities include toilets, ATMs, NOL top-up machines and a staffed service point. Gold Class carriages sit at the front of each train and a women and children carriage runs in the middle.

Accessibility

Jumeirah Golf Estates offers full step-free access, with lifts connecting street level, the concourse and the platform. Tactile paving, audio announcements and platform screen doors are all in place, and the wide concourse leaves plenty of room to move with luggage or a wheelchair.

Travel Tips

• During the DP World Tour Championship the metro is the easiest way in, sidestepping the parking crush around the course.
• The clubhouse and community sit a short taxi or shuttle ride from the station, so plan that last leg in advance.
• A NOL card costs AED 25 including AED 19 of credit and works on metro, bus, tram and water transport.
• For any Green Line station, change lines at Union or BurJuman.
• The metro runs Saturday to Wednesday 05:00-00:00, Thursday 05:00-01:00 and Friday 08:00-01:00.

Timings and Best Time to Travel

Trains at Jumeirah Golf Estates run Saturday to Wednesday 05:00-00:00, Thursday 05:00-01:00 and Friday 08:00-01:00. On normal days it stays quiet outside the weekday commuter peaks of roughly 07:30-09:30 and 17:00-19:30. The clear exception is tournament week in November, when spectator numbers climb sharply.
