Al Nahda

Al Nahda serves one of the most densely populated residential districts on the Green Line, out near the Dubai-Sharjah border where clusters of apartment towers house a large, mixed expatriate community. It is a heavy-duty commuter station, and on a weekday morning the platforms fill quickly with residents making the daily trip into the heart of Dubai for work.

The character here is neighbourhood rather than tourist. The streets around the station are lined with grocery stores, cafeterias and small businesses that serve the community day and night, and for many families living close to the emirate border the metro is a welcome escape from the notorious road congestion between Dubai and Sharjah.

Station Overview

Al Nahda opened in 2011 on the Dubai Metro Green Line and sits in Zone 5 of the NOL fare system. It is an elevated station on a viaduct, served by the network's fully automated, driverless trains.

Lines and Connectivity

Al Nahda is a Green Line station towards the north-eastern end of the line. Trains run through Al Qusais and Etisalat by e& in one direction and towards the Deira and Bur Dubai heritage stops in the other. To reach the Red Line, change at Union or BurJuman, the network's two interchanges.

Station Layout and Structure

Al Nahda is an elevated station reached by lifts, escalators and stairs, built to handle heavy commuter flows. Facilities include toilets, ATMs, NOL top-up machines and a staffed service point, with plenty of feeder buses and taxis at the entrance. Gold Class carriages are at the front of each train and a women and children carriage runs in the middle.

Accessibility

Al Nahda has full step-free access, with lifts between street level, the concourse and the platform. Tactile paving, audio announcements and platform screen doors are all in place, in line with the network's standards.

• This is one of the busiest residential stops on the line, so expect crowded platforms at the morning and evening peaks.
• Feeder buses from the station reach deeper into the Al Nahda and Sharjah-border neighbourhoods.
• To reach the Red Line, change at Union or BurJuman.
• A NOL card costs AED 25 including AED 19 of credit and works across metro, tram, bus and marine transport.
• Groceries and cafeterias around the station are handy for a quick stop on the way home.
• The metro runs Saturday to Wednesday 05:00-00:00, Thursday 05:00-01:00 and Friday 08:00-01:00.

Timings and Best Time to Travel

Trains at Al Nahda run Saturday to Wednesday 05:00-00:00, Thursday 05:00-01:00 and Friday 08:00-01:00. Given the size of the community, it is one of the busier Green Line stations at the weekday commuter peaks around 07:30-09:30 and 17:00-19:30. Late mornings and early afternoons are noticeably calmer.
