Dagenham Heathway station serves the Heathway shopping area in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, one of the main commercial centres of the Dagenham community. The station is on the District line's eastern branch heading towards Upminster, serving a post-war residential borough with a proud working-class and manufacturing heritage - the Ford Dagenham plant, once one of the largest in Europe, operated nearby for decades. Dagenham Heathway station opened in 1932. It sits in Zone 5 and is served by the District line only. The station does not have step-free access. It is between Becontree to the west and Dagenham East to the east.
The District line (green) connects west towards Becontree, Barking and central London. Eastbound, the line continues through Dagenham East, Elm Park, Hornchurch, Upminster Bridge and Upminster (the terminus). Journey time to Victoria is approximately fifty-five minutes.

District line services at Dagenham Heathway run from approximately 05:30 to midnight on weekdays and similar hours on weekends. There is no Night Tube on the District line. The shopping area is busiest on weekday afternoons and Saturday mornings.
