Stamford Brook station is a quiet District line stop in Zone 2 on the Richmond branch, situated between Turnham Green and Chiswick Park in the London Borough of Hounslow. The station serves a pleasant residential area with good Edwardian housing stock and easy access to the Thames at Chiswick. Chiswick Mall - one of the most attractive riverside streets in west London, lined with Georgian houses and looking across the river to Oliver's Island - is about twenty minutes walk south through Chiswick's residential streets.
Stamford Brook station opened in 1912. It sits in Zone 2 and is served by the District line on the Richmond branch. The station does not have step-free access. It is between Turnham Green to the east and Chiswick Park to the west.
The District line (green) connects east through Turnham Green and into central London via Hammersmith. Westbound, the Richmond branch continues to Chiswick Park, Gunnersbury, Kew Gardens and Richmond. Journey time to Victoria is approximately twenty-five minutes.
Stamford Brook station has a small shop and ticket machines. The surrounding residential area has local cafes and convenience stores. Turnham Green (one stop east) has a better range of shops and restaurants.
Stamford Brook does not have step-free access. Turnham Green (one stop east) also lacks step-free access; Kew Gardens (several stops west) has step-free access on the District line.
Chiswick Mall - twenty minutes walk south. One of west London's finest riverside streets, with Georgian houses overlooking the Thames. The Dove pub at the end of the mall is a historic and excellent riverside pub.
Turnham Green - one stop east. Chiswick High Road's best independent restaurants and cafes. Bedford Park conservation area nearby.
Kew Gardens - several stops west on District line. UNESCO World Heritage Site Royal Botanic Gardens. Admission charged.
District line services at Stamford Brook run from approximately 05:30 to midnight on weekdays and similar hours on weekends. There is no Night Tube on the District line. The Thames at Chiswick is best on a clear summer day; the Dove pub is popular all year.
