Al Jadaf

Al Jadaf sits on a stretch of the Creek that has quietly reinvented itself. The name recalls the area's shipbuilding past, when traditional dhows were built and repaired along the water here, and a working boatyard still operates nearby. Around it, though, a new waterfront district of hotels, apartments and cultural spaces has risen, giving the station a calm, contemporary feel that rewards a wander.

The real draw for many visitors is Jameel Arts Centre, one of Dubai's leading contemporary art spaces, set right on the Al Jaddaf waterfront with free galleries and a sculpture garden looking out over the Creek. Across the water you can see Dubai Festival City with its malls and hotels, and the whole area has an unhurried, riverside quality that feels a world away from the crowds of the older souks upstream.

Station Overview

Al Jadaf Station opened in 2014 on the Dubai Metro's Green Line. It sits in Zone 6 of the NOL fare system. The Dubai Metro runs fully automated, driverless trains, and Al Jadaf is an elevated station raised above the road on a viaduct.

Lines and Connectivity

Al Jadaf is a Green Line station near the southern end of the line. One way it runs towards Dubai Healthcare City and Bur Dubai, and the other way it continues to the Creek terminus. It is not an interchange, so for the Red Line you change at BurJuman or Union.

Station Layout and Structure

Al Jadaf is elevated, with lifts, escalators and stairs from the concourse up to the platforms. Facilities include toilets, ATMs, NOL top-up machines and a staffed service point. Gold Class carriages sit at the front of each train and a women and children carriage runs in the middle, clearly marked on the platform.

Accessibility

Al Jadaf has full step-free access, with lifts between street level, the concourse and the platforms. Tactile paving, audio announcements and platform screen doors are all in place, and the newer, wide footways towards the waterfront make for an easy walk with a wheelchair or pushchair.

Trains at Al Jadaf run Saturday to Wednesday 05:00-00:00, Thursday 05:00-01:00 and Friday 08:00-01:00. Weekday rush hours are around 07:30-09:30 and 17:00-19:30, though this remains one of the quieter Green Line stops. A cool morning or late afternoon suits a stroll along the waterfront and a visit to the arts centre.
