Centrepoint

For anyone driving in from the eastern suburbs of Dubai, Centrepoint is where the car gets parked and the metro takes over. It is the north-eastern end of the Red Line, the last stop before the tracks turn back towards the airport and the city centre, and it was planned from the start as a park-and-ride point for commuters coming off the road network around Rashidiya.

Because it sits at the edge of the network, Centrepoint tends to fill up in the morning and empty out in the evening rather than seeing heavy through-traffic. The station has its own multi-storey car park, a feeder bus terminal and a taxi rank, so switching between modes is straightforward whatever time you arrive.

Station Overview

Centrepoint opened in 2009 as part of the first phase of the Dubai Metro Red Line and sits in Zone 5 of the NOL fare system. Trains here are fully automated and driverless, and as the terminus every service both starts and ends at this platform, which usually means a seat if you board early.

Lines and Connectivity

Only the Red Line calls at Centrepoint. From here the line runs south-west through the airport terminals and Deira towards the city centre, then along Sheikh Zayed Road to Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall, Dubai Marina and the Route 2020 branch. To reach the Green Line, change at Union or BurJuman further down the line.

Station Layout and Structure

Centrepoint is an elevated station raised above street level, with the platform reached by lifts, escalators and stairs from the concourse. A large adjoining car park and a bus interchange sit alongside it. Inside you will find toilets, ATMs, NOL top-up machines and a staffed service desk. Gold Class carriages run at the front of each train and a women and children carriage sits in the middle.

Accessibility

The station is fully step-free, with lifts linking the car park, concourse and platform level. Tactile paving guides visually impaired passengers, platform screen doors line the edge, and audio and visual announcements run throughout.

Travel Tips

• Park here for free when you travel on with a NOL card, then avoid the traffic and parking hassle in the centre of Dubai.
• Board early at the terminus for a better chance of a seat before the train fills at the airport stops.
• A NOL card costs AED 25 including AED 19 of credit and works on metro, bus, tram and water transport.
• The metro runs Saturday to Wednesday 05:00-00:00, Thursday 05:00-01:00 and Friday 08:00-01:00.
• Feeder buses from the terminal serve Rashidiya, Mirdif and the surrounding residential districts.

Nearby Attractions

Mirdif City Centre - about 4 km east, reachable by feeder bus, a large family mall with shops, dining and an indoor entertainment zone.

Mushrif Park - a short taxi ride away, a sprawling green park with pools, cycling tracks and picnic areas.

Rashidiya residential district - immediately around the station, an established villa neighbourhood served directly by the metro.

Timings and Best Time to Travel

Trains at Centrepoint run Saturday to Wednesday 05:00-00:00, Thursday 05:00-01:00 and Friday 08:00-01:00. As a commuter terminus the busiest flow is outbound in the morning peak, roughly 07:30-09:30, and inbound around 17:00-19:30. Mid-morning and early afternoon are quiet and comfortable, and boarding here means you rarely have to stand.
