Al Garhoud

Al Garhoud sits in one of the older, leafier corners of Deira, where villa streets, schools and low-rise offices sit close to the creek. The station opened a little after the first wave of Red Line stops, filling in a gap on the airport side of the city and giving the Garhoud community a direct link into central Dubai without the drive.

What sets this stop apart is the mix on its doorstep. Within a short walk you have the long-running Irish Village, the dining courtyards of Century Village and the greenery around Dubai Creek, so the station serves commuters by day and diners and golfers in the evening.

Station Overview

Al Garhoud opened in 2010 on the Dubai Metro Red Line and falls in Zone 5 of the NOL fare system. The trains that call here are fully automated and driverless, running at short intervals throughout the day.

Lines and Connectivity

Al Garhoud is a Red Line station. Towards the north-east it reaches the airport terminals and the Centrepoint terminus, while towards the south-west it runs through Deira and the city centre and on along Sheikh Zayed Road to Downtown, the Marina and the Route 2020 branch. The nearest changes for the Green Line are Union and BurJuman.

Station Layout and Structure

Al Garhoud is an elevated station, with the platform raised above the road and served by lift, escalator and stairs. As a mid-sized stop its facilities cover the essentials, with toilets, ATMs and NOL top-up machines on the concourse. Gold Class carriages sit at the front of each train and a women and children carriage runs in the middle.

Accessibility

Step-free access runs the full height of the station, with lifts between street, concourse and platform. Tactile paving, platform screen doors and audio-visual announcements are all present for passengers who need them.

• This is the closest metro stop to the Irish Village and Century Village, both easy walks from the exit.
• Golfers heading to Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club can take a short taxi from here.
• A NOL card costs AED 25 including AED 19 of credit and works across metro, bus, tram and water transport.

Trains at Al Garhoud run Saturday to Wednesday 05:00-00:00, Thursday 05:00-01:00 and Friday 08:00-01:00. The morning and evening commuter peaks, roughly 07:30-09:30 and 17:00-19:30, are the busiest, while the middle of the day is calm. Evenings pick up again as diners head for the Garhoud restaurants.
