Emirates

Named after the airline whose global headquarters sits close by, Emirates is one of the quieter stops on the airport stretch of the Red Line. Most of the daily traffic here is staff and visitors heading to and from the Emirates Group offices and the surrounding Garhoud workplaces, which gives the station a strong weekday-morning rhythm and a calmer feel outside office hours.

It is an easy stop to use. The platform sits above the road, the trains are air-conditioned and driverless, and a short walk drops you into the offices, hotels and dining spots that make up this corner of Deira.

Station Overview

Emirates opened in 2009 on the Dubai Metro Red Line and falls within Zone 5 of the NOL fare system. Like the rest of the network, it is served by fully automated trains that run without a driver, arriving every few minutes through the day.

Lines and Connectivity

Emirates is a Red Line station. Northbound it heads towards the airport terminals and the Centrepoint terminus, while southbound it runs through the city centre and along Sheikh Zayed Road towards Downtown, the Marina and the Route 2020 branch. Passengers wanting the Green Line change at Union or BurJuman.

Station Layout and Structure

Emirates is an elevated station with the platform set above street level and reached by lift, escalator or stairs. Being a smaller stop, its facilities are focused rather than sprawling, with toilets, ATMs and NOL top-up machines on the concourse. Gold Class carriages are at the front of each train and a women and children carriage runs in the middle.

Accessibility

Step-free access runs the full height of the station, with lifts between the street, concourse and platform. Tactile paving, platform screen doors and audio-visual announcements are all in place for passengers with reduced mobility or vision.

Travel Tips

• This is the handiest stop for the Emirates Group headquarters and nearby Garhoud offices.
• For the actual airport terminals, stay on to Airport Terminal 1 or Airport Terminal 3 rather than getting off here.
• A NOL card costs AED 25 including AED 19 of credit and covers metro, bus, tram and water transport.
• The metro runs Saturday to Wednesday 05:00-00:00, Thursday 05:00-01:00 and Friday 08:00-01:00.

Timings and Best Time to Travel

Trains at Emirates run Saturday to Wednesday 05:00-00:00, Thursday 05:00-01:00 and Friday 08:00-01:00. Because the catchment is mostly offices, the station is busiest around the weekday commute, roughly 07:30-09:30 and 17:00-19:30, and noticeably quiet in the middle of the day and at weekends.
